Parents and Toddlers
"Lily Pads"

Every Thursday morning from 09:30 - 11:00am.

Jubilee Hall, St Julians Baptist Church

Children are a gift from the Lord, (Psalm 127:5)

Our toddler group ‘ Lily-Pad’ is led by a wonderful team of believers who love Christ and love sharing their faith. We are a church-based group and have seen a great impact on the local community and the many families who attend. Genuine friendships that are made, and we now have an extended Lily-Pad family. Our toddler group has grown immensely over the past few years and is now a fully thriving toddlers, which is well attended every week.

Lily-Pad is a welcoming and safe environment which is loved by all the children and parents/guardians who attend. All our activities are child led, supporting parent and child interaction play throughout the session. Our play area offers different zones, enabling our children to have freedom to move from area to area. Each area is a different learning zone, from role-play, soft play, out-door play, arts & crafts, messy play and tuff zone to name a few. All activities provided are fun and safe. Every activity is carefully planned for young children’s ongoing learning and development and their physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

We run a session every week during term time, for children and their families (age birth to 5 years). We provide healthy snacks and refreshments during the session, as well as arts and crafts. Every session ends with storytime, song time and prayer.

We are transparent in everything we do; we share our faith on a personal level to anyone who asks, and we offer prayer to anyone who needs support, comfort and love.
If you would like to join us or know more about all that Lily-Pad has to offer, please contact Michelle (Children and Family lead) on    mich.pres@aol.co.uk or 07458341876

Planning your Visit

New to Church?

It's important for us to tell you that "the Church" is not a building. The building is the place where "the Church" also called "the family of God" meet to be together as often as we can.

So welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church Family that meets in St Julians and across the City of Newport.

Key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?

We believe that when we meet each other, in homes or in any other location we are the Church gathered. Our regular and largest gathering of the Church Family meets every Sunday at 10.30am for our Sunday Service. Aim to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking spot and seat in time for the service to start. Its also good to meet and greet others before the service starts. We want to get to know you and introduce ourselves to you.

We meet at:

33 Beaufort Road
St. Julians
Newport
NP19 7PZ

You can see a map on our contact us page

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and ensure you feel comfortable. We don't want you to disappear in the crowd so don't be surprised if people introduce themselves to you and please make yourself known to others. There will be a time of singing with opportunity for church members to minister to each other, to pray or read a passage from the bible. After some notices there will be a message from one of the church members with a chance to respond at the end of the service. We encourage church members to participate during the meeting but everyone is able to relax and enjoy our time together.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the kids at church?

We have a fantastic programme for the kids at the Church for:

IMG-20231008-WA0042

Junior Church - Primary School Age
Youth Church - Secondary School Age

Our Junior and Youth Church caters for those with "Special Educational Needs" and this means a child may be more suited to a group based on ability / understanding, rather than age.

Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children need to go to their groups.

For more information about what happens in the children's groups please visit the relevant age groups for you under church life.

Is there a dress code?

We don't have a dress code. Just come dressed in what makes you feel comfortable.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.

Disability Special Needs

Our church has members who bring beauty and love to the church family out of their disability and they are highly valued in our family. We've found that God loves to use us when we least expect it and especially when we are not so strong in areas of our lives. We also have children and young people with special needs that bring a completely different dynamic to our gatherings. We understand that they can sometimes be noisy, say things that don't seem to fit and now and again have a melt down. More importantly we know through experience that we gain abundant grace, love and growth in our walk with Jesus by having our "special" family members with us. ...........        A special message to carers - We know that you may not have been to church for some time because of the challenges of the caring role. We want you to know, that we will do all we can, to make you welcome along with those you care for. If you are concerned about visiting and would like to talk to one of our members then please give "Mark" a call on 07841376410. Mark and his wife Natalie are carers for their son Jadon who is 19 years old and has autism (low spectrum) and learning difficulties. Jadon displays some challenging behaviours so they are in a good place to encourage you to spend time with us on Sundays and through the week.
