About Us

Are you new to the church or the area of Newport? If so, you are very welcome! Please check out our "New to Church" page to get all the information about our church family.

We are people from all walks of life and from different nations who come together as the local church in the area of St Julians, Newport. We love to see new people and want you to know that we value everyone who visits us. Our Sunday morning gathering brings together our church family to minister one to another which is simply "to love one another". We usually begin with a warm welcome and an invitation to join us in celebrating the good news about Jesus Christ. Our worship is vibrant and lively as we focus on the prescence of Jesus moving in and amongst us. We expect God to meet with us and speak to us through the words, songs and ministry of our family members.

Jesus taught that the love of God and our neighbour is to be the first priority in our lives. He showed us that by loving God and everyone we meet we will become who He has designed us to be and we will be "alive" having abundant life.  We surrender our own rights for the good of God and our neighbour and this is the "way" Jesus lived. Our walk along this way is an essential part of our worship. God is our starting point and the finish line for all we do. We strive to give God His rightful place in our lives and as a result our lives become renewed, directed and focused on what is true, right and lovely. Worship of God is fundamental to our life as a church family.

The church meeting is intended to be a place where all can come and worship God, from the youngest child and the coolest teenager, to the oldest adult.  As we focus on God, we are changed to be more and more like Him. We seek to know his prescence amongst us and be open to Him so He can speak into our situations as we allow Him to lead us by His Spirit. We have a deep need of God, our desire is to learn from Him and follow the way of Jesus.

As you would expect, our service regularly includes celebrating communion. This is open to all who know Jesus as their saviour – members and visitors alike.

Our music is a mix of the old and new. Our aim is to be led by God’s Spirit, to enable those in the church to worship God – to be neither particularly contemporary nor traditional but God focused.

After the morning service we have tea and coffee so we can spend time together as a family.

So that we are open to all, we have facilities available to make access easier to all aspects of church life.

We are also very active in our local community working alongside other agencies and running our own projects in order to express the love of God in a practical way.

We are a church in newport that worships in Newport and enjoys being Church in Newport and as a family we meet in Newport as a Church to bring the church to Newport. Newport has many churches and being the local church in Newport is important to us as a church family. We want to serve the people in Newport and ensure they know we are a church that is loving and compassionate.

New to Church?

It's important for us to tell you that "the Church" is not a building. The building is the place where "the Church" also called "the family of God" meet to be together as often as we can.

So welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church Family that meets in St Julians and across the City of Newport.

Key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?

We believe that when we meet each other, in homes or in any other location we are the Church gathered. Our regular and largest gathering of the Church Family meets every Sunday at 10.30am for our Sunday Service. Aim to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking spot and seat in time for the service to start. Its also good to meet and greet others before the service starts. We want to get to know you and introduce ourselves to you.

We meet at:

33 Beaufort Road
St. Julians
Newport
NP19 7PZ

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and ensure you feel comfortable. We don't want you to disappear in the crowd so don't be surprised if people introduce themselves to you and please make yourself known to others. There will be a time of singing with opportunity for church members to minister to each other, to pray or read a passage from the bible. After some notices there will be a message from one of the church members with a chance to respond at the end of the service. We encourage church members to participate during the meeting but everyone is able to relax and enjoy our time together.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the kids at church?

We have a fantastic programme for the kids at the Church for:

IMG-20231008-WA0042

Junior Church - Primary School Age
Youth Church - Secondary School Age

Our Junior and Youth Church caters for those with "Special Educational Needs" and this means a child may be more suited to a group based on ability / understanding, rather than age.

Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children need to go to their groups.

For more information about what happens in the children's groups please visit the relevant age groups for you under church life.

Is there a dress code?

We don't have a dress code. Just come dressed in what makes you feel comfortable.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.

Disability Special Needs

Our church has members who bring beauty and love to the church family out of their disability and they are highly valued in our family. We've found that God loves to use us when we least expect it and especially when we are not so strong in areas of our lives. We also have children and young people with special needs that bring a completely different dynamic to our gatherings. We understand that they can sometimes be noisy, say things that don't seem to fit and now and again have a melt down. More importantly we know through experience that we gain abundant grace, love and growth in our walk with Jesus by having our "special" family members with us. ...........        A special message to carers - We know that you may not have been to church for some time because of the challenges of the caring role. We want you to know, that we will do all we can, to make you welcome along with those you care for. If you are concerned about visiting and would like to talk to one of our members then please give "Mark" a call on 07841376410. Mark and his wife Natalie are carers for their son Jadon who is 19 years old and has autism (low spectrum) and learning difficulties. Jadon displays some challenging behaviours so they are in a good place to encourage you to spend time with us on Sundays and through the week.
